20th June
From June
June has sent in an amazing video about how a sewing machine works, the film was made almost 35 years ago and that in itself is an interesting aspect of watching.
The International Society of Sewing Machine Collectors is mentioned - they still exist and have a website of hundreds of articles. If we ever get locked down again I'll go back and read some! |

I'm going to be busy with family matters for the next week or so, so it was good that we had our latest Zoom talk this Thursday night. Thank you all attendees for coming & joining in. Karen Parry of needles2pins really entertained us with her tour of the 1910 Haberdashery. I'm already looking forward to her visit to the group next February, when she will be talking about needles & pins, & of course will have a pop-up shop.
I wrote before of buying dressmaking supplies. Well I have finished my granddaughter's dress. It's not without faults, but I'm hopeful it will be worn. Picture attached. Also a photo of a little corner of my summer sampler embroidery.

Hello,
I hope none of you are inside sewing, it is such beautiful weather!
I have been out and about much more in the last month, it's good to sit in a garden with friends.
It is too nice to be sitting at a computer too so Q in Q has been neglected by me for some time, I don't think we are 'quarantined' now, so I've decided to post less often , please keep sending photos and stories in though, it is always good to see what members are sewing.

It's marvellous what you can do with a pair of scissors!
Portuguese artist Victor Nunes creates amusing and playful drawings using just a black pen and bits of everyday objects. Scissors become a bicycle, lettuce turns into a dress and pop corn transforms into an elephant’s head – nothing is impossible with a wild imagination. Click on the scissor image for more.

I managed to watch all the Saturday's and most of Sunday's zoom presentations. I found that most of them I gained bits of information from and hope that the group might take part again if the opportunity arises. |
