Spend two hours learning how to create beautiful print on paper using botanical elements (leaves and flowers) and natural dyes you have access in your own kitchen...
I have been an eco printer for many years and work regularly with paper as well as fabric... it gives me a chance to make some books... wrapping paper... cards... it is a simple process and always works...
It is perfect to do with children and for beginners.
If you live in the UK you will receive a starter pack allowing you to "have a go" synchronised to this online workshop. I am afraid that if you are overseas with the current Covid19 situation I will not be able to offer you the facility of a starter pack as it might never reach you. Instead upon receiving your booking I will send you a list of equipment you need.. trust me it is very little ... You will receive a small discount on the price.
You will be able to take part on the day using small rolls and paper I will send you ahead of the workshop (in the UK only).... or just to view and take notes while having a go at a later stage.
This will take place over a zoom link online and you will have the chance to ask direct questions as well as seeing the process in direct.
After the event you will receive an emailed PDF with the basic instructions.
If you have any questions you can email me on [email protected]
You can view my facebook page if you want to see inspiring work using this technique.

Following on from Thursday's talk on Eco-printing Lizzie has sent instructions for preserving leaves with glycerin.
Soaking leaves in glycerine
This is an old technique, a way of preserving leaves, used by a friend’s grandmother and great grandmother.
Dilute glycerine with water – 50% glycerine and 50% water. Stir well.
Place clean leaves in container, pour on the mixture until the leaves are covered.
Leave for a few hours – I usually leave them overnight.
Take the leaves out and rinse carefully.
Dry the leaves – I usually use kitchen towel.
The leaves are malleable, and lovely to stitch into.
This works best with reasonable strong leaves, for example oak leaves, of which there’s no shortage!

Kusudama Folded Flower Instructions
Start with a square of paper - minimum 4”
- Fold in half on the diagonal to form a triangle with the coloured side facing out.
- Fold both the bottom corners up to meet in the middle.
- Fold both the points back so they line up with outside edge. This will make two pockets.
- Open one pocket using a finger.
- Flatten along the seam to make a kite shape and squash down.
- Do the same on the other side.
- Fold the top of each kite down to make two triangles. You want the top of the triangles to line up with the edge.
- Take both sides of kite and fold in half towards the centre.
- Apply glue to one of the flaps.
- Bring the two sides together so that both flaps meet.
- Press together carefully, without creasing the opposite side.
- You now have one petal.
- Repeat 4 times to make one flower.
You can use any of the following
- Regular Printer Paper
- Magazines
- Maps
- Old Books
- Newspapers
- Colouring book pages
- Vellum
- Wrapping paper

This is my last Q in Q entry. We will be meeting this week for the first time in 18 months.
From now on I will write a 'Members' Newsletter' to tell you all what's happening. Probably a day or two before each meeting, just to advise you about any speaker or what you need to bring.

On this occasion I'll write in both places, here and Members' Newsletter.
On Thursday 2nd September we meet at the Reddings, It will be wonderful to see people again and catch up with everyone's news.
The drama society is not meeting this month so we have been able to book the large hall, this will give us much more space while we get used to mixing with each other indoors.
There will be hand sanitiser available, wearing a face mask is optional in the hall, the register will allow us to contact you if anyone present subsequently reports Covid symptoms.
Our first meeting will be largely social so we can all reacquaint with one another. There will be the usual refreshments PLEASE remember to bring your own mug, we will not be using the Reddings' crockery or cutlery.
Jane will be presenting a slide show, and telling us all about the programme planned for the next few months. There will also be a fabric sale.

FABRIC SALE
A friend has acquired a large fabric stash from an acquaintance who has had to give up sewing due to Parkinson's Disease. My friend would like to sell this in aid of the Parkinson's charity (Parkinson's UK) and asked if she could bring it to our Thursday meeting.
Two friends and I helped Christine sort out the stash last week.... there is a large amount, all good quality patchwork fabric, some pieces are as large as 3metres in length which would be perfect for a quilt back; many are 1 metre in length, or more accurately 1 yard, (I think the lady must have made trips to the USA); there are also lots of fat quarters and then smaller but very usable pieces. We have tried to measure and price each piece, a very difficult task; Christine is open to offers, bearing in mind she wants to raise as much as possible for Parkinsons UK.
Please bring cash or a cheque book, I'm sure there will be something that tempts you.
